Welcome!

Welcome to our first blog post here at amorefinejewelry.com. The goal of this page is synonymous with our goal as jewelers and designers, to provide our customers with the knowledge and confidence, they need to purchase the jewelry that best suits their desire, from engagement rings and wedding bands to anniversary presents and spur of the moment gifts. We take each customer, their style, their situation, and their vision into account and tailor an experience and product that is unique to them.

Amore was created in 2015 but its founding partner Phil Grosso has been a jeweler for over 40 years. Since 1983 on Canal Street and the Bowery, Phil has had his hand in every aspect of the jewelry industry, from processing and polishing gold to doing what he does best, which is making and repairing jewelry on the bench. Since 1983 a lot has changed in this industry, for example making custom rings used to begin primarily with wax carvings, a process that was arduous and time consuming. That is where Amore’s second partner Joe Hernandez comes in.  A former artisan who ran his own food company for almost a decade, Joe oversees computer assisted design, also known as CAD, which is the paramount creative mode for making custom jewelry these days. Using advanced architectural software, rings, pendants, earrings and anything you can think of can be designed, printed and cast with unwavering precision. Digital renderings can be displayed to the customer, along with cured wax printings of the jewelry so that customers can try out the piece before they commit to purchasing the real thing.

It may seem surprising to most that an industry that has been around since time immemorial that technology would pay such a pivotal role in how we do business, but the fact is that far from casting artisans and craftspeople to an ever-receding pocket of irrelevance, those that use technology can have their artisanal touch augmented rather than diminished. We hope to be a shining example of that phenomenon. Big Data and Google algorithms will continue to play an important role in not only how customers find and pick out jewelry but also how they come to like a certain piece in the first place. With some potential buyers, many options being presented can feel overwhelming and having access to some timeless wisdom and vulnerable human being professionals can make what is for most, a major purchase that can be stressful, much more enjoyable and fun!
